Hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase catalyzes the committed step in cholesterol biosynthesis.

3-Hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase/HMGCR serves as a rate limiting enzyme in mevalonate pathway. It also controls the oncogenic Hippo transducers TAZ/YAP. HMGCR also perform as a genetic modifier for Alzheimer′s disease (AD).

Physical form

Supplied as a solution containing 250 µg protein in 50 mM Tris pH 7.5, with 5 mM DTT, 1:200 Protease Inhibitor Cocktail (Catalog Number P8340) and 50% (w/v) glycerol.

Physical properties

Consists of the HMG CoA reductase catalytic domain fused to GST protein.
