Biochem/physiol Actions
IL-10 (interleukin-10) is an anti-inflammatory cytokine. High levels of IL-10 are present in late syphilis. It suppresses Th1 (T helper) cytokines. IL-10 also controls the differentiation and proliferation of T cells, B cells, natural killer cells, antigen-presenting cells and mast cells.
Possesses the biological function of the IL-10 moiety and a prolonged circulating half-life determined by the Fc domain.
General description
The gene IL-10 (interleukin-10) is mapped to human chromosome 1q31-32. It is secreted by monocytes and lymphocytes.
Other Notes
Dimeric fusion protein consisting of human IL-10 fused to mutant human IgG1 Fc.
