General description

Iodotrimethylsilane [(CH₃)₃SiI] is an important and versatile organosilicon reagent with wide applications in organic synthesis. It is used as a neutral nucleophilic reagent, trimethylsilylating agent, Lewis acid catalyst, reducing agent and dehydrating agent in many organic reactions.
