A direct test for the presumptive detection of pathogenic Listeria monocytogenes and Listeria ivanovii from food contact and other environmental surfaces using a simple turquoise colour change (chromogenic) technology. The chromogen does not change colour with common non-pathogenic Listeria like Listeria innocua.
- Includes polystyrene shaft (breakpoint) with pre-moistened (with neutralising buffer) foam tip swab
- Campden BRI validated
- ISO18593:2018 compliant when used with a template SWA3096
- Recommended for food contact and environmental surfaces sampling only
- Ideal for detecting pathogenic Listeria from surfaces
- Easily differentiates between pathogenic Listeria (L. monocytogenes & L. ivanovii) from commensal L. innocua using specific substrate technology
- Can be used to compliment (or in conjunction with) the ISO11290-1 testing/detection methodology
- Also inhibits other background microorganisms such as Bacillus spp., Enterococcus spp., Micrococcus spp and Gram negative organisms like Klebsiella spp and E. coli
- Known limitations: restricted use for the presumptive detection of pathogenic Listeria from food contact and environmental surfaces, it is recommended that after sampling food contact areas are wiped, for direct food contact the item must be removed/discarded after use (so not sold), no other uses are authorised
- Gamma irradiation to achieve a SAL of 10-6
