- Recommended for: environmental monitoring where no chemical residue are present, carcass sponge sampling as per ISO 17604:2015, ISO6887:2017 alongside ISO 18593:2018
- Ideal for: Salmonella surface sampling in poultry houses or general Total Viable Count testing and other organisms including: TVC, Listeria spp., Staphylococci, Enterobacteriaceae eg Salmonella, E.coli (E coli / ecoli / e. coli), Enterobacter, staphylococcus, klebsiella, E. coli Enterobacter, Enterobacter sakazakii
- Known limitations: buffered peptone water (BPW) is a generalised media hence will recover all organisms, further selective steps are required, it is recommended that the sample area on carcasses is be rinsed/wiped or residues could create unwanted multiplication/growth after sampling
- Sterilisation method: gamma irradiated to achieve SAL of 10-6
