Cell viability reagent is to be used for ADAMII™ LS. Measuring process is much simple and convenient with this cell viability reagent, which is composed of the mixture of AO and DAPI. It is possible to accurately measure not only the numbers of total cells, viable cells, non-viable cells, and viability, but also the cell size by using an advanced algorithm of cell counting and analysis.
AO (Acridine Orange) is a permeable dye that stains the nucleus of every cell regardless of the cell’s condition. Therefore, it is used to count the total number of cells. DAPI (4′,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole) is an impermeable dye that only stains the nucleus of cells with damaged membranes or cells with inactive metabolism. Therefore, cells with nucleus stained with DAPI are counted as non-viable cell.
