Application
Anti-Tet Repressor (TETR) antibody produced in rabbit has been used in western blotting.
Biochem/physiol Actions
The Tet system is employed in conditional gene expression studies in eukaryotic cells. TetR ( can be used for such applications in some organisms without further modifications. In mammals and in a large variety of other organisms, however, eukaryotic transcriptional activator or repressor domains are fused to TetR to turn it into an efficient regulator. TetR interaction with antibiotic tetracyclin decreases its binding affinity to DNA.
