Biochem/physiol Actions
Fibroblast growth factor (FGF) receptor substrate 2 (FRS2) is essential for activation of downstream signaling molecules that are involved in the MAP (mitogen-activated protein kinase) and AKT (protein kinase B) kinase pathways. This protein plays an important role in epidermal growth factor (EGF) signaling. It also plays a major role in cell transformation and resistance to therapy. FRS2 helps to link FGF, nerve growth factor (NGF) and glial cell-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) receptors with the Ras/mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase signaling cascade.
