General description
The anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) gene codes for a transmembrane receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) that has 1620 amino acids. It is a member of the insulin receptor superfamily and is usually expressed in nerve cells. ALK gene is mapped to human chromosome 2p23.2.
