Biochem/physiol Actions
Tie-2 (TEK receptor tyrosine kinase) protein induces angiogenesis (both developmental and tumor) and supports endothelial cell survival, upon binding of angiopoietin-1 (an endothelial growth factor) to the receptor. Tie-2 is necessary for Schlemm′s canal formation. The gene regulates vascular homeostasis by involving in auto or transphosphorylation.
