Biochem/physiol Actions
The protein encoded by SOX9 (SRY (sex determining region Y)-box 9) gene is involved in the regulation of developmental processes such as chondrogenesis, gliogenesis, epithelial hair follicle stem cell specification, gonadogenesis, normal development of septum, lung, cardiac valve and pancreas. Abnormal regulation of SOX9 promotes tumorigenesis in different tissues. SOX9 induces the process of metastasis in cancer cells. Overexpression of the gene is observed in prostate, breast, and colorectal cancers.

General description
The SOX9 (SRY (sex determining region Y)-box 9) gene is located on human chromosome 17q24.3. SOX9 codes for a DNA-binding protein that belongs to the class of high-mobility-group box.
Anti-SOX9 antibody detects endogenous levels of total SOX9 protein.
Immunogen
The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human SOX9.Immunogen Range: 147-196
Physical form
Rabbit IgG in phosphate buffered saline (without Mg2+ and Ca2+), pH 7.4, 150mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol.
