Biochem/physiol Actions
Cytokeratin 19 (KRT19) plays a major role in structural rigidity and multipurpose scaffolds. Overexpression of this gene in various cancers may participate in tumorigenic transformation. It may modulate signaling pathways and mediate cell apoptosis, cell cycle arrest, invasion and metastasis. KRT19 plays a vital role in the cancer stemness of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
