Biochem/physiol Actions
Regulator of G-protein signaling 17 is a protein encoded by the RGS17 gene in humans and is mapped to chromosome 6q23-25. RGS17 encodes a member of the regulator of G-protein signaling RGS-Rz subfamily. It is differentially expressed in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and plays a central role in regulating transformed hepatocyte tumorgenicity. RGS17 is over-expressed in human lung adenocarcinomas and plays an important role in lung tumor growth.
