Biochem/physiol Actions

Homeobox protein OTX2 is a member of the bicoid sub-family of homeodomain-containing transcription factors. This protein acts as a transcription factor and may play a role in brain and sensory organ development. A similar protein in mice is required for proper forebrain development. Two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene. Other alternative splice variants may exist, but their full length sequences have not been determined. General description

OTX2 is a homeodomain transcription factor that regulates organ development. Studies in mice have shown that Otx2 is involved in determining the fate of retinal photoreceptor cells. This transcription factor has also been implicated in pineal gland development.Rabbit Anti-OTX2 antibody recognizes canine, chicken, human, mouse, rat, rabbit, zebrafish, and bovine OTX2.
