General description

α-Glucosidase hydrolyzes carbohydrates by acting on terminal, non-reducing a(1→4)-linked D-glucose residues with the release of D-glucose. Defects in α-glucosidase have been implicated in Pompe disease and diabetes.

Principle

In this assay,A-glucosidase activity is determined by a reaction in which A-glucosidase hydrolyzes p-nitrophenyl-A-D-glucopyranoside resulting in the formation of a colorimetric (405 nm) product, proportional to the A-glucosidase activity present
