24(R/S),25-epoxycholesterol-d6 has been used as a primary and deuterated surrogate sterol standard in the quantitative analysis of extracted sterol samples from cultured cells and tissues.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Deuterated sterol plays a vital role in chemical and biochemical research. It is used as a mechanistic tracer to study the role of steroid hormones in the function and modulation of several physiological processes. Deuterated sterol is also used as reference standards for mass spectrometry. 24(R/S),25-epoxycholesterol-d6 is a deuterium labeled sterol.

24(S),25-epoxycholesterol maintains cholesterol homeostasis. It modulates hepatic cholesterol metabolismin vivo.24(S),25-epoxycholesterol is synthesized in themevalonate pathway. It inhibits sterol regulatory element-binding protein(SREBP) activation.
