Neuromedin U is a neuropeptide that exists in various isoforms with a constant C-terminal heptapeptide, Phe-Leu-Phe-Arg-Pro-Arg-Asn-NH2. Neuromedin U cell signaling is mediated by two receptors, peripheral NmUR1 and central nervous system NmUR2. Neuromedin U-8 (NMU-8) (YFLFRPRN-NH2) is identical to the C-terminus of human Neuromedin U-25. NMU-8 and its analogues are used to study NMU cell signaling activity and specificity.
