Sulfide indole motility (SIM) medium is a test agar for Enterobacteriaceae, for the detection of motility and the formation of sulfide and indole.

General description

Sulfide indole motility (SIM) medium is a semi-solid medium containing cysteine and iron ions. Darkening of the medium (a black precipitate) indicates the presence of bacteria producing hydrogen sulfide.
