Sodium tetraborate decahydrate has been used:as a buffer component in biotinylation assay.in preparation of methylene blue solution for histological staining.as a component of trace metal solution for medium supplementation.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Sodium tetraborate decahydrate also called borax. Guar gum based gels crosslinked by borax are effective for wastewater treatment. Borax is used in the preparation of detergents and cosmetics. Borax elicits toxicity in the brain especially in aquatic organisms resulting in edema and congestion.
