Murexide is used for the histochemical staining of calcium in skeleton.

General description

Murexide is the ammonium salt of purpuric acid that appears as reddish-purple powder slightly and is soluble in water. It is mainly used as an indicator for complexometric titrations to measure water hardness and as a colorant/pigment in the dye industry.
