Poultry test kit, boot swab (boot covers) for Salmonellae monitoring. 2 pairs pre-moistened in MRD (Maximum Recovery Diluent). Sampling with boot swabs was developed by Technical Service Consultants (TSC) as a simple, safe, cost-effective and user-friendly environmental method for assessment of Salmonella prevalence in poultry flocks. Boot swabs are far more effective and much more sensitive in the detection of Salmonella than the traditional Drag swab method of testing, and are as sensitive as hand collection of litter. Poultry Boot covers are dosed with Maximum Recovery Diluent for Salmonellae monitoring of litter in poultry houses.

- Known limitations:
- Maximum Recovery Diluent (MRD) is a non-selective media hence will aid organism recovery. Further selective steps are required.
- Due to increased material absorbance over time, boots may vary in appearance as the liquid media settles into the deeper fibres leading to coloured precipitate on the visible surface. This is a known characteristic and does not affect performance or sterility. If apparent, gentle massage the boots whilst still sealed to redistribute the media before use.
