Biochem/physiol Actions
KCNJ5 (potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily J member 5) is associated with aldosteronism, a major cause of secondary hypertension. Mutated KCNJ5 gene affects the polarization of plasma membrane and permit sodium and calcium inflow into the cells.
