Biochem/physiol Actions
MEKKK 1 (mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase kinase 1) controls different processes associated with inflammation and apoptosis. In response to upstream signals, the members of the MAPK (mitogen-activated protein kinase) family gets activated upon phosphorylation. MEKKK 1 possesses E3 ubiquitin ligase activity in relation to c-Jun protein stability and regulates the JNK (c-Jun NH2-terminal kinases) pathway. MEKKK 1 gene regulation is associated with acute respiratory distress syndrome.
