Biochem/physiol Actions
Spleen tyrosine kinase (SYK) is a tumor suppressor gene that helps to prevent the development and metastasis of breast cancer cells. It participates in B-cell receptor signaling. The protein helps to phosphorylate the α-tubulin subunits of microtubules. SYK aids in the coupling of receptors for antigen-antibody complexes. It also modulates cell proliferation and differentiation.
