Biochem/physiol Actions
G protein-coupled receptor 40 (GPR40) maintains insulin and glucose homeostasis. It plays an important role in the development of type 2 diabetes. GPR40/FFA1 signaling may participate in the regulation of endogenous pain control systems. It is considered as an anti-diabetic drug target.
