Galactosyl ceramide is a complex glycosphingolipid. It is a major component of the myelinsheath and contains a single galactose residue linked toceramide.Galactosyl ceramide is present mainly on the surface of colonic epithelial cells, vaginal epithelium and primary mammary epithelial cells.
