It is an endogenous macrophage inducible C-type lectin (Mincle) ligand, which exhibits immunostimulatoryproperty. β-GlcCer promotes inflammatory and acquired immune responses on myeloid cells via Mincle. It acts as a potential biomarker for Gaucher′s disease.
