7α,24(S)-dihydroxycholesterol (24(S)-dihydroxycholesterol) is a ligand for liver X receptor (LXR) and binds to the ligand binding domain of LXRα and LXRβ.

General description

7α,24(S)-dihydroxycholesterol (24(S)-dihydroxycholesterol) is synthetically synthesized via from E-α, β-enone from the starting compounds Arsonium ylide and J-tert-butyldimethylsilyloxy-bisnor-5-cholenaldehyde. This undergoes further changes to form 7α,24(S)-dihydroxycholesterol.
