Biochem/physiol Actions
MMP13 (matrix metallopeptidase 13) participates in tissue remodeling, inflammation, cytokine secretion and activation. It also plays an important role in acute lung injury, viral infections and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Mutation in MMP13 results in spondyloepimetaphyseal dysplasia, missouri type (SEMDMO).
