Application
Monoclonal Anti-Periostin antibody produced in mouse has been used to develop a periostin imaging PET probe.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Periostin (POSTN) has a role in the differentiation and cell adhesion of osteogenic cells. It functions as a biomarker of T-helper cells type 2-mediated inflammatory diseases. The protein has been associated with various cancers. POSTN is involved in epithelial-mesenchymal transition and extracellular matrix degradation.
