General description

Norpropoxyphene is a major urinary metabolite of propoxyphene, an opioid analgesic drug used for the treatment of pain. Norpropoxyphene’;s toxicity makes the parent drug more likely to cause death from overdose compared to similar mild opioid analgesics. Suitable use of this stable-labeled internal standard includes quantitation of norpropoxyphene levels by GC/MS or LC/MS in testing applications such as clinical toxicology, urine drug testing, isotope dilution methods or pain prescription monitoring.
