General description
The UDP-glucose pyrophosphorylase 2 (UGP2 ) gene is localized on human chromosome 2p15. It has a crucial role in carbohydrate metabolism. Its product uridine diphosphate-glucose (UDP-glucose) acts as a precursor for sugar nucleotides and is involved in various pathways. The enzyme is involved in the conversion of glucose-1-phosphate and MgUTP to UDP-glucose and MgPPi.
