N-20:4 L-Serine (ARA-S) is a signaling lipid that regulates neuronal-type Ca²⁺ channels in the brain. ARA-S is known to produce endothelium-dependent arterial vasodilatation in vitro. It is also found to exert neuroprotective action following brain injury.

General description

N-20:4 L-Serine (ARA-S), a unique lipoamino acid is endogenous in nature. It is localized to the brain. It has structural resemblance with anandamide, an endocannabinoid.
