Application

Lactosyl(β) Sphingosine (d18:1) or D-lactosyl-β1-1′-D-erythro-sphingosine has been used as an internal standard for the quantification of psychosineusing tandem mass spectrometry. It may be used to screen lipids that rapidly and reversibly altertransepithelialelectrical resistance (TER) or tight junction (TJ) permeability in epithelialtissue. It may also be used as a standard to determine the extent of recovery of lyso-neutral glycosphingolipids (lyso-n-GSLs) from the Sephadex column.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Lactosyl sphingosineexhibits better hemolytic activity than lysolecithin.

Lactosyl sphingosineis a glycosylsphingosine (Lyso-GSL), which is found in bovine brain white matter extract.
