Used in a solid-state reaction to form the new ternary oxide, CrVMoO₇, which should find application in selective oxidation. Its crystal structure was also determined.

Chromium(III) oxide (Cr₂O₃) has been used as a standard for the determination of chromium content in cattle feces by employing different digestion techniques.1 It has also been employed as a digestibility marker in a study.

General description

Chromium(III) oxide is mainly used as a green pigment in paints, inks and ceramics. On a commercial scale, it is synthesized by the reduction of sodium chromate with sulfur.

Chromium(III) oxide is also referred to as chromic oxide. It is commonly employed as a marker in various digestion assays conducted on animals.
