Biochem/physiol Actions
NXN (Nucleoredoxin) is associated with several regulatory cellular processes such as regulation of Wnt/β-catenin pathway, oxidative stress responses. It acts as a thiol reductase and reactive oxygen species regulator during thiol-mediated oxidoreduction process. NXN possesses specific binding affinity for protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A). It interacts directly to the catalytic subunit of PP2A during phosphatase activity. It has also been reported that NXN may be involved in the transcriptional regulation of NF-κβ, AP-1, and CREB activation in HEK293 cells.
General description
NXN (Nucleoredoxin) is a novel cell growth regulatory protein belonging to the thioredoxin (TRX) family. It has a molecular mass of 55kDa. It is expressed in several adult tissues and is predominantly localized in the nucleus. It consists of a conserved TRX domain and a catalytic region, which exerts oxidoreductase activity.
