Biochem/physiol Actions

Lysophosphatidylcholine(LPC) alters various biological functions in different cell-types, such as endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, monocytes, macrophages and T-cells. It is associated with atherosclerosis and inflammatory diseases. LPC activates many second messengers including, protein kinase C, extracellular-signal-regulated kinases and protein tyrosinekinases.

Lyso-phosphatidylcholine (LPC) is a bioactive proinflammatory lipid secreted on pathologicalresponse. It has a choline group at its polar head.
